Fishergate Supports Local Breakfast Club in Need

This month, we are proud to announce our support of Community CVS‘ Voice Breakfast Club in Blackburn. The breakfast club offers a vital service to the local community, providing free breakfasts, showers, and a welcoming space for those in need.

Located next to Blackburn train station, this non-profit organisation is run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Our Marketing Manager, Emma Reay, recently visited the centre and met the amazing team working on the ground.

Responding to a Specific Need

During conversations with the volunteers before the recent visit, the team at Community CVS mentioned their current toaster was no longer fit for purpose, causing delays in serving breakfast. In response to this specific need, we donated a brand new, high-quality Dualit 4 slice toaster. This powerful appliance will allow the breakfast club to serve hot breakfasts quickly and efficiently, ensuring everyone gets their morning meal on time.

More Than Just a Breakfast

The Voice Breakfast Club serves a crucial role for many individuals facing homelessness, drug addiction, or other difficult circumstances. For some guests, it may be the only place they experience a friendly smile or have a genuine conversation. The breakfast club provides a sense of community and support, helping those in crisis feel seen and valued.

Investing in the Community

At Fishergate Shopping Centre, we believe in supporting the communities where our shoppers live and work. We are proud to partner with organisations like Community CVS and contribute to the well-being of our local residents.

Additional Support for Volunteers

Community CVS recently received further support from Spark BWD, who provided training to all their volunteers on administering Naloxone. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. By equipping their volunteers with this vital knowledge, Community CVS is even better prepared to assist those in need.

Geoff Wilkinson who runs the breakfast club said “It is great to see the VOICE Breakfast Club benefitting from a wonderful act of kindness like this. A massive thank you to Fishergate Shopping Centre.

The team at Spark BWD added “We are very grateful for this kind gesture, especially Andy. He’s our Toaster Man and you can’t go wrong with a Dualit.”

We are committed to ongoing support for our local community across Lancashire where our shoppers live and work.
