It’s May the 2nd! Time to Celebrate Being a Right Muggle at Home!

Buckle up, witches and wizards (or should I say, Muggles?), because on May 2nd, it’s International Harry Potter Day! Yes, a whole day dedicated to the Boy Who Lived, and by “lived,” we mostly mean narrowly avoided death thanks to a healthy dose of luck and questionable decisions from Lord Voldy.

But hey, who are we to judge? This day is about celebrating the magic of the books and films, even if that magic mostly involves dodgy CGI owls and questionable green screen choices.

Here’s how you, the gloriously unmagical folk of Preston, can celebrate this momentous occasion:

  • Binge-watch the films in your PJs: Who needs spells when you’ve got butterbeer popcorn and questionable life choices courtesy of teenage wizards? Settle in for a marathon, because who needs vitamin D when you’ve got Dementors to outrun?

  • Channel your inner Hermione with some stationery shopping: For the young witches and wizards (or just Harry Potter enthusiasts) in your life, a trip to Primark in Preston Town Centre is a must. Remember, they don’t need an owl to get their Hogwarts supplies anymore! Thanks to the wonders of the muggle invention called “click and collect” at Fishergate Shopping Centre, you can grab a wand pen, a Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor quill (because apparently house pride extends to stationery these days), or a cute set featuring Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Perfect for taking notes in Potions class (or, you know, Maths).

Remember, folks, there’s no shame in celebrating the magic of fiction, even if it involves questionable haircuts and questionable parenting choices from owls. So grab your wands (or pens), settle in for a film marathon, and celebrate International Harry Potter Day the best way you know how – as a perfectly normal, non-wand-wielding Muggle. Just don’t blame us if you find yourself muttering “Lumos” when you reach for the light switch later.
