If you’re already feeling the excitement of the festive season, then you’ll be thrilled to hear that Fishergate Shopping Centre has a magical line-up of Christmas events to help you celebrate the most wonderful time of the year! From enchanting encounters with Santa and his elves to festive workshops, sing-alongs, and other family fun, we’re confident that there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we begin the countdown to Christmas.
These festive events are going to be packed with memory-making moments, magical experiences, and plenty of Christmas cheer, and to make sure you know exactly what’s on offer, we’re providing you with a list of every event taking place between now and Christmas Eve.
Santa’s Magical Elevator – A Brand-New Christmas Experience
One of our biggest events presents an opportunity to step into a world of wonder. Opening on 22nd November, children can enter an enchanted elevator that takes them on a magical journey where they’ll explore festive scenes before meeting Santa Claus in his grotto. Here, each child will receive a special gift to take home, making the journey all the more memorable!
The Santa’s Magical Elevator and Grotto experience will run on selected dates until 24th December, and tickets are £10 per child (which includes entry for 2 adults). They can be bought on the day, but due to the unique experience on offer, we recommend that you book online to guarantee your spot.

Meet The Grinch & Cindy Lou Who
Something mischievous is coming to Fishergate this November. From 11:00 to 15:00, you’ll have the chance to meet the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, who are bringing their own twist to our festive line-up. The Grinch will be up to his usual tricks and trying to steal the Christmas spirit, whilst Cindy Lou will be doing her best to keep him in line. This meet-and-greet experience will be filled with fun and laughter, making it a fantastic addition to your family’s festive day out.

Christmas Lights Switch-On – Bright Lights and Festive Cheer
Taking place in the afternoon, the Christmas Lights Switch-On will see Fishergate Shopping Centre light up with lots of sparkling lights, festive decorations, and a warm, magical glow that fills the air with holiday excitement! It’s a great opportunity for you to bring your loved ones along and enjoy a heartwarming atmosphere as well as celebrate the start of the festive season. Plus, there’s also plenty of other entertainment happening on the same day, providing families with a full day of excitement to look forward to.

Asteria’s Christmas Clowns – Roaming Entertainment
Also coming to Fishergate Shopping Centre on 22nd November is some extraordinary entertainment in the form of Asteria’s Christmas Clowns! These vibrant, theatrical characters will be roaming the centre and spreading sparkle, silliness, and Christmas joy. Expect colourful costumes, quirky personalities, and interactive performances that will delight families of all ages. If you love surprises and spontaneous fun, then these are characters that you’ll definitely want to see!

Family Christmas Party – Full of Fun and Magic
We’re also throwing a Christmas party on the 22nd November, and this lively event will feature cheerful Christmas elves, face painting, high-energy entertainment, and lots of other fun activities. Lasting between 14:00 and 17:00, you’ll have plenty of time to attend before or after seeing Santa, meeting the Grinch, or watching the lights switch-on.

Meet Santa’s Elevator Elves – Are You on the Naughty or Nice List?
After the grand opening of Santa’s Magical Elevator, children will get the chance to see the cheeky Elevator Elves and discover whether they’re on the Naughty or Nice List. With the magical elevator nearby, it’s a great chance to add a little extra sprinkle of Christmas wonder to your visit.

Gingerbread Decorating with Mrs Claus – Creative and Tasty Fun
Santa’s lovely wife, Mrs Claus, will also be coming to Fishergate Shopping Centre, hosting a festive Make & Take Workshop! Children can decorate their own gingerbread treats, complete with icing and sprinkles, and take them home to enjoy.

Winter Princess Sing-Along – Let it Go!
On Saturday 13th December, you’ll get the chance to meet your favourite festive princesses for a magical Frozen-themed sing-along! With plenty of sparkle, snowflakes, and the chance to meet the princesses and their friends, this enchanting event can warm even the coldest hearts!

Christmas Plate Decorating – Mrs Claus Returns
Mrs Claus returns to the Fishergate Shopping Centre again later in December. She’ll be decorating Christmas Eve plates just in time for Christmas, with plenty of materials and a lot of festive magic. If you want to keep the Christmas spirit alive right up until the big day, then this event will give kids one more magical moment.
